Scion Media offers students several opportunities to learn digital media through our project-based learning model, working on real-world projects.
Instructor Sam Ettaro works with students in real-time through our virtual production studio and/or in the field at production sites.

Students working with Scion Media have several opportunities to get real-world digital media training through our unique project-based learning model. This means they work on real media projects, in a real-world setting, gaining valuable skills while advancing opportunities for them to craft a career. We make available different modes of artistic expression and learning opportunities, all of which offer in-depth vocational and life-skills training opportunities, as well as a chance to network, build a professional portfolio, gain a certification, and ultimately help their community grow. The following productions samples of the various styles and focus areas and they are currently available for students to work on here in our home city of Charlotte, NC or virtually via our online classes. We offer three pathways, Workforce Development Training, Community Media, and Faith-Based Media.

Career Exploration TV
The video displayed is an example of our dynamic approach to teaching vocational skills through an exciting project that puts students to work learning the digital media arts by interviewing successful business people in a wide variety of career pathways! Students learn valuable production, business, and life-skills while they explore careers that interest them. Offered as a Workforce Development opportunity by Sam Ettaro through Life Connections of the Carolinas, Inc. (a 501c3 organization) and funded by Mecklenburg County Workforce Development, this program is a referral program for Scion Media students who are serious about pursuing a career in digital media and offers a rigorous schedule, but many perks! There is no cost to qualifying students and, upon successful completion, the student will even get their own production laptop!

Independent Community Media Production

This fun, dynamic, and informative web TV series that is the flagship for our planned national community media network. Students will learn the fundamentals of digital media, while exploring the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, meeting the fabulous people that make the Queen City an awesome place to live! Our shows are currently produced in a variety of formats including mini-documentary, news-style talk shows, and live podcasts! This project offers a variety of internship positions; hosts, producers, editors, visual artists, and more. Positions that are available are both paid and unpaid. Advancing the Kingdom through artistic vision...
This project is perfect for students who have a passion for God and want to use their skills to serve the faith community. The video featured is an example of some of styles of productions that are available for students to engage in. Producer Sam Ettaro has been creating such content for many years, offering in-depth conversations with believers about their faith-walks, personality profiles, and educational/motivational videos. Ettaro has a passion to use digital media to help individuals and organizations create content that is Christ-focused, and has developed a unique project-based learning program to teach these skills, integrated with Biblical teachings.
